The other day Shannon and I were having a conversation about knots that went as follows:
Me: Could you do me a favor and tie a knot?
Shannon: I cannot.
Me: So you can knot?
Shannon: I cannot knot.
Me: Not knot?
Shannon: Who’s there.
Me just shaking my head and walking away.
So Mother’s Day is fast approaching. I remember the time I got my mother some new beads for her abacus. After all, it’s the little things that count. Of course, I always liked to remind my Mom that Mother’s Day always seemed to fall on son-day.
If you’re looking for something other than abacus beads for this Mother’s Day, I would like to introduce you to the cool activity we have going on this Saturday from 11AM-12:30PM. Our resident artist, Beverly Montrose, will be helping people to paint clear glass milkshake/ice cream soda mugs. These mugs can even get the recipient a discount on a milkshake or other ice cream treat!
We are having a car cruise over at Lost and Found on the 17th. Additional parking will be across the street at St James Episcopal Church. Most of what I know about cool old cars comes from old magazines like Popular Science Monthly. I did find an old article from 1924.
According to it’s author, Eddie Rickenbacker, we were supposed to have flying cars within two decades of when that article was written. Considering that Eddie was a World War I flying ace and a race car driver, I really thought he might actually be in the know. Then, while I was doing some research, I found this old lithograph from the 1930’s.
I always thought it was strange that Back to the Future used a fairly unreliable car, like a Delorean, I came across a really interesting statistic. Apparently 95% of every Delorean ever manufactured is still on the road. The other 5% made it home.
While I am not expecting to see a flying, time-traveling Delorean at the car show there will be lots of other cool cars there along with music, grilled food, and a mini art auction. All from noon to 5 on the seventeenth.
I should probably tell you about what else we have coming up in the not too distant future:

Now for the part everyone always asks about, the food! Also, while it lasts, our current stuffed shake is our Strawberry Shortcake Milkshake with with a strawberry shake with pieces of shortcake blended in, rimmed with a cream cheese icing and red sanding sugar, topped with a shortcake, whipped cream, and a fresh strawberry!
Thanks and God bless,
